ADHD Treatment in Philadelphia, PA

ADHD Treatment in Philadelphia, PA

Visit us for ADHD treatment in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bala Cynwyd , Pennsylvania, Maple Shade, New Jersey, and the surrounding areas. The Falcone Center uses functional medicine to treat ADHD and other medical conditions.

What Is ADHD?

ADHD is a neurological disorder that affects a person’s behavior. Diagnosed more often in boys than girls, it causes those who are affected to act impulsively as well as have trouble focusing, paying attention, and completing tasks, all of which may result in disruptive behavior. As a person with ADHD gets older, the condition begins to affect his ability to manage time, prioritize, and organize which can affect his ability to function in the workplace.

In simpler terms, when someone has ADHD, the brain picks up on everything going on around him, causing an inability to focus on the task at hand. This often leads to outbursts and meltdowns that have negative effects, mostly in school and the workplace.

Often referred to as a mental disorder, ADHD is, in fact, a physical, neurological disorder estimated to affect up to 10 percent of school age children. While most often found in children, in recent years, adults have begun to recognize the symptoms of ADHD and seek treatment.

What Are the Symptoms of ADHD?

The symptoms of ADHD vary with each person who suffers from it. Most often, it becomes more prevalent when children are in school where they must sit still and pay attention for extended periods of time. While it is common for most children to fidget and lose interest, those with ADHD have a much harder time. Adults living with ADHD often experience very apparent issues in the workplace and social situations.

The most common and apparent symptoms of ADHD are the following:

  • Inability to focus on details
  • Challenges paying attention, resulting in negligent mistakes in school or similar activities and producing work that may be messy or careless
  • Easily becoming distracted by extraneous stimuli including outside noises and occurrences to which others in class or at work do not notice
  • Lack of ability to pay attention for extended periods of time
  • Inability to finish school assignments or paperwork
  • Inability to sit still
  • Meltdowns (in children) when presented with too many stimuli
  • Disorganization
  • Hyper-focus on certain activities and stimuli

How Is ADHD Treated Through Functional Medicine?

Traditional medicine typically involves treating ADHD with prescription medications to help alleviate the side effects and symptoms typical to those with ADHD. The problem with this approach is that it does not get to the root of the problem –the cause of ADHD.

With functional medicine, the goal is to determine what may cause ADHD, eliminate it, and then allow the healing process to take place. Typically, the root has been the factors that may cause ADHD, which can begin from chemical, structural, and mental and emotional stressors. It is important to deal with all of the stressors.

Once the stressors have been addressed and removed, the healing process begins. It may take some time, but once it is accomplished, patients may have the ability to focus, finish tasks, sit still, and maintain control.

What Is the Cost of Treating ADHD with Functional Medicine?

At the Falcone Center, the cost for treating patients in Philadelphia, PA, Maple Shade, NJ, and the surrounding area is based on the appointment. Deposit is due when scheduling initial appointment.

It is important to note that the Falcone Center does not accept insurance as it is considered an “out-of-network provider” by most major insurance plans. While we cannot file insurance claims on our patients’ behalf, we can easily provide them with receipts and the necessary paperwork to file for reimbursement. We suggest that our patients determine whether their plans cover functional medicine prior to making an appointment.

Why Choose the Falcone Center to Treat ADHD?

At the Falcone Center, we recognize the correlation between the gut, brain, and immune systems. Our goal is to evaluate each patient to determine what causes ADHD so that we can design a treatment plan that addresses the causes and heal any damage.

How Do I Begin ADHD Treatment with Functional Medicine?

To begin treatment for ADHD at the Falcone Center, please contact us to make an appointment. Prior to arriving, we require you to fill out our new patient paperwork so that we can review it prior to your first visit. Please be aware that the forms are quite detailed and may take time to complete. Additionally, if the appointment is for a child, it is important that two people attend the initial appointment. One adult will focus on talking with the doctor while the other attends to the needs of the child if necessary.
